Camera unresponsive after firmware freeze

Camera asked (typically at bedtime!) to update the firmware. It then got stuck, and eventually went back to the Home Screen having said that the update was taking too long. All I now get is that It is trying to reconnect to your camera. The camera powers up with a usb c cable, but I don’t understand why the update
