How do you shorten floor cable protector for floor stand?

We bought the nanit with floor stand for a small room. Very sleep deprived, but so far we haven't been able to figure out how to position the camera stand over the bassinet because the cable protector that covers the wire on the ground is too long; the plug we're using is under the bassinet so we only need 1"
