How can I turn off background audio when the camera is disconnected?

If I turn on background audio and then the camera is disconnected, the video feed goes away and along with it the live screen control menu, including the audio button. Now the app is running in the background with a persistent notification about background audio, but I have no way to switch it to muted or in-app-only audio, until the
