Sound detection not working

Hi Everyone - has anyone else experienced the sound detection function on the Nanit not working at all? Especially when using a sound machine in the same room? My partner and I specifically chose the Nanit for its claimed ability to provide noise notifications.

Please share any ways you’ve found to fix/address this deficit in this product.

Nanit Representative: please provide any software updates or other fixes provided by Nanit to address this issue.



  • We are having issues getting any sound at all - we've reset the nanit, the app, and turned on/off the sound detection. very frustrating! We've had it for two years and haven't had this issue until this last week. Would love to chat with a nanit representative as well as we are relying on a second monitor to monitor sound, which is frustrating.

    Thanks for posting on here. Have you tried checking your notification alerts to be sure that the sensitivity is adjusted? This can possibly help if alerts are not detected properly. You can view it here to learn more: Customizing notification settings.

  • We are also experiencing this problem. Sound is never detected and we have it on the most sensitive on the scale. Also have restarted the Nanit, the app and the sensitivity.

    Very frustrating to be paying so much for this camera and never have sound detected.

    Hi @Kymbowlee2,

    Thanks for posting on the community. If you're not receiving audio notification when sound is detected and you've tried power cycling your Nanit camera, try uninstalling the Nanit app, reboot your phone device, and reinstall the app.

    Also, power cycle your router/modem and give it a few minutes for your Nanit camera to reconnect to see if that might help.
