Car carrier seat to baby seat

Hi there. Our daughter is turning 1 next week and is 19.8lb and about 29” tall.

We have the Mesa baby car seat - baby carrier. She seems ok in this but I imagine soon she will need a true car seat.

How can I tell that it is time to switch to the bigger backward facing car seat.
