Nanit sleep sack on newborn?

Anyone have experience using the sleep sack on babies younger than 3 months.

My new born is about 8lb but loves having his arms free. He currently sleeps best in a sleeper swaddle that is similar in shape to the sleep sack just with swaddle bands on the side. It's a bit thick so I'm not sure how well the standard band would work around it.
