Our 8 month old keeps waking up too early. He goes to sleep around 7:30 pm consistently but wakes up around 4am and needs to be fed to go back to sleep until 7:30. We’ve tried just rocking him to sleep without food but he’s just wide awake. Usually he’ll roll to his stomach and that begins he wake up. We usually then wait 10 minutes before picking him up even though he’s whining. We read that we should put him down earlier but that just seems so counterproductive.

@Sleepy_golfer Lots of babies still need that early morning feed, so I'd suggest rolling with it for a little while longer. Go in and give him a quick feed and then pop him right back down to sleep. Make sure you treat it as a night feed, we are NOT starting the day at 4am! :)

One thing I will also suggest is looking at our Nanit 8 month sleep schedule. If he is getting everything he needs to eat during the day, he shouldn't need to eat overnight.

After a few weeks on this schedule, you can start to cut down that early morning feed.

Its really normal for babies to wake at this time of the morning, and often babies are not waking because of hunger in these early hours, but because they are coming in and out of light stages of sleep.
